The Guacalillo estuary and the Tárcoles River offer the possibility of observing one of the largest crocodile colonies in the world and the most important area of the country for the conservation of scarlet macaws. It provides an important nesting site for birds, including the beautiful Scarlet Macaw and a place of refuge and nutrients for many fish and invertebrates. There are more than 250 different types of birds that can be found in the area.
