The tour starts in the beautiful city of Alajuela, allowing you to see the Farmer’s Monument, the Juan Santamaría Statue and the famous Mango’s Park. From this point you will begin a road trip that will take you to the Poás Volcano National Park, but making a brief stop at the Doka Coffee Plantation, where you will learn about our famous golden grain: the coffee, and later on, walking amongst ferns, beautiful flower farms and the most delicious strawberry plantations.

During this road trip you will witness an important change in the temperature and vegetation, preparing you to experience the exuberant cloud forest near the Poás Volcano. Once in the Poás Volcano National Park, you will have plenty of time to enjoy (if the weather conditions are favorable) the massive main crater of this volcano and its sulfur furnaces. After this stop, you will continue walking through a beautiful trail that will lead you to the Botos Lagoon, where you will also learn about the different ecosystems available in this Park.

After visiting the volcano, you will continue towards the Caribbean region of the country, stopping at the famous La Paz Waterfalls Gardens, where a series of spectacular trails will take you through the mountains and into the amazing White Magic Waterfall (the largest and most impressive in the area). Here, you will also visit a beautiful butterfly farm, a hummingbird gallery, bird sanctuary, frog and snake exhibit and an old typical costa rican house.

Once this visit is completed you will enjoy a delicious buffet style lunch, prior to the start of your trip back to San José.
